I was reading Greek mythology related matters. And there was that Gorgon Sisters. Medusa and two others. The other two were rarely depicted in movies and things with letters, so there you go.

Gorgon word root is "gorgos" (Greek), meaning horrible or terrible.

So oh, it almost sounds like "gorgeous". Then, I looked up "gorgeous" word root. It was from Old French, "gorgias". Ah, fascinating.
